Field Engineer Civil & Structure

The Field Engineering Team supports timely decision making to progress construction and protect our client’s design quality .
Field Engineers play a key role in ensuring the installation meets the design and preserves Process Safety for the Project.
Organization
Reporting to the Field Engineering Manager as part of Project Team :
Civil / Structural Field Engineer scope includes structural steel, buildings, pipe racks, foundations, piling.
Role Responsibilities
- Visits and work at various locations in greater Edmonton area on as-needed basis
- Be a role model and champion for safety;
- Understanding of industry standards, Project Specific Technical Standards and applicable client DEPs;
- First point of contact for Requests For Information (RFI’s) related to design;
- Work closely with the Quality Team to observe the work and proactively anticipate issues that may require engineering solutions;
- Work collaboratively with CSU Team to understand concerns, proactively identify issues and provide fit-for-purpose engineering solutions to issues that lead to efficient and effective turnover, commissioning and safe startup;
- Prepare technical deliverables for structural works structural including Validate the contents of the different construction packages to ensure that all required work was considered in the previous phase (if applicable);
- Design and update civil and structural standards according to the codes in force, those of the project and the client;
- Verify technical deliverables as required by client procedures;
- Coordinate technical deliverables internally and make sure to have input from the disciplines involved.
Experience, Background and Behaviours
- This position requires a person comfortable walking around construction operations, able to communicate effectively to front line workers, supervisory and management levels ;
- Able to establish trust and positive relationships with all teams;
- Experience working in multidisciplinary and multi-cultural teams;
- Able to maintain positive relationships and outlook in a sometimes-stressful environment;
- Courageous approach to work, has a track record of speaking one’s mind ;
- Project experience in industrial projects;
- Technical experience in discipline engineering in a project or operating asset environment;
- Understanding of the technical regulatory requirements of Alberta and Canada;
- Experience making decisive decisions based on risk and finding timely economic solutions;
- Communication skills : able to explain complex technical concepts to enable decision making;
- Able to identify the need to escalate issues quickly based on schedule expectations or technical support required;
- P.Eng. in province of Alberta would be beneficial
- Range of demonstrated experiences from 3-15+ years.
