Position : Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Summer Student Start Date : May 4, 2026 Employment Status : Summer Student (up to 16 weeks) Reporting To : GIS Coordinator Union Affiliation : Non-union Posting Date : February 3, 2026 Closing Date February 24, 2026 at 4 : 30 pm Contract Duration : May 4, 2026 – September 4, 2026 Position Summary : Perth County is recruiting for the position of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Summer Student. The GIS Summer Student will primarily consist of assisting in the maintenance and administration of the Corporation's GIS. Students will have the opportunity to work on a number of projects providing a full range of work experience and exposure to many of the varied duties of GIS staff working in a busy Municipal setting.

Primary Responsibilities :

• Create and update data in Esri’s ArcGIS platform
• Perform quality assurance and quality control (QAQC) on data products
• Create maps (hardcopy and web-based)
• Execute data requests with 3rd party contractors
• Updating County’s municipal addressing and 9-1-1 map material
• Work closely with the GIS Coordinator and other staff in the development of enterprise datasets
• Preparation of mapping and reports for ongoing projects and special projects that are being undertaken by various Departments
• Ensure that Occupational Health and Safety practices and County of Perth policies and procedures are adhered to; wear any personal protective equipment required to ensure personal safety and report any known hazards and / or incidents in the workplace to the immediate Supervisor
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications :

Shift : Monday to Friday, 8 : 30 am to 4 : 30 pm (35 hours per week)

Hourly Rate : $18.73
