Our Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a Civil Engineer with a background in municipal land development and infrastructure to join our Calgary team.

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the preparation of engineering designs and related documents, including the conceptual design, preliminary and detailed engineering of oil and gas, infrastructure and land development projects related to water, wastewater, storm water and earthworks including the development of scope, schedules and safety systems.,

Using your considerable organizational, communication and people skills, you will work with cross discipline teams to ensure projects are completed within allotted schedules and budgets, and to high quality standards.

A Day in the Life

  • Manage a variety of projects such as infrastructure upgrades and subdivision developments, including design and construction of water, sewer, drainage, and transportation infrastructure
  • Provide technical guidance to a team of EITs and designers to deliver preliminary to detailed design drawings and specifications
  • Carry out estimates of project costs, analysis and calculations, design review, preparation of reports, proposals, and contract documentation
  • Build business relationships with current and potential clients
  • Interface directly with clients, team members, contractors, and others to clearly define project requirements and expectations
  • Ensure completion of work within allotted schedules and budgets to high quality standards
  • Create a work plan that includes a schedule, milestones, control, and risk factors
  • Proactively resolve performance, scope, and schedule issues as they arise.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Must be registered (or eligible to register) as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in the province of Alberta
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in private and public sector oil and gas, infrastructure and land development projects
  • Earthworks and site grading and drainage design experience
  • Road geometric design experience considered an asset
  • Deep Utility Infrastructure design water distribution systems, sanitary collection systems and stormwater design experience
  • Strong technical writing skills demonstrated through experience in the preparation of correspondence, reports and proposals
  • Effective verbal communicator, including presentation, facilitation and listening skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; able to mentor and work with junior engineers and designers
  • Good organization skills and strong attention to detail.
