Commercial Construction Project Director

Partner Staffing is currently working with our client, a leading construction company specializing in commercial projects in Calgary, Alberta, and the surrounding areas.

In helping support their continued to grow, we are seeking a talented and experienced Commercial Construction Project Director to join the team

Requirements

Position Overview :

As the Commercial Construction Project Director, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our commercial construction projects from inception to completion.

You will manage project teams, ensure adherence to timelines and budgets, and maintain high standards of quality and safety.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale commercial construction projects and possess strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities :

Lead and manage commercial construction projects from pre-construction through closeout.

Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets.

Coordinate and oversee project teams, including subcontractors and suppliers.

Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, building codes, and safety standards.

Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure timelines and budgets are met.

Communicate regularly with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are achieved.

Identify and address any issues or challenges that arise during the course of the project.

Conduct regular site visits and inspections to ensure quality control and safety standards are maintained.

Provide direction, oversea team development and conduct performance reviews.

Foster open communication and collaboration aligning with corporate strategy and vision.

Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial construction project management.

Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale commercial construction projects from inception to completion.

Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Knowledge of relevant regulations, building codes, and safety standards. PMP or other relevant certifications are a plus.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years onsite construction experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of continuous superintendent or supervisory role experience (in construction field)
  • Strong working knowledge of current construction methods, drawings, specifications and building codes
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of employment and other designated information
  • Self-motivated, creative thinking, organized, and efficiency
  • Excellent Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage time, responsibilities and priorities
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, leadership and team building skills
  • Level 1 (minimum) First Aid certification and knowledge of (WHMIS) Systems
  • Budgeting and estimating skills (computer word processing and spreadsheet programs an asset)
  • Proficient with computers, multifunctional processing units, telephones and faxes
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and skills in data entry
  • Valid driver's license
