1. Position Overview
The Materials Manager will report to the General Manager. The position will manage the areas of Materials Quote / Sourcing, Purchasing, Demand Planning, Logistics, Materials Flow and Inventory Control.
Quick Summary
The Materials Manager is responsible for the strategic direction, continuous improvement, and overall metric performance of the areas under his / her supervision. This includes Materials Quote / Sourcing, Purchasing, Demand Planning, Logistics, Materials Flow and Inventory Control. The goal is to maximize material availability for production with the lowest possible total cost to support our excellent customer satisfaction.
Basic Background Requirements
This position will require
- Knowledge of shop floor control and ERP systems
- Knowledge of logistics and supply chain
- Familiar with business and manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of lean concepts
- Ability to motivate and develop their direct reports
- The ability to work with all levels of the organization (Operators, engineers, leadership)
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- CPIM certification a plus

Learn our current processes and proceduresBecome familiar with our production facility and customersAchieve Yellow Belt Certification in KEJ’s Continuous Improvement ProgramLonger Term : (3+ months)
Create a good working relationship with each of our suppliers and our customersPartner with our business management team to work on supply chain strategies to increase our new business win percentagesDevelop a plan for improvements that would improve Operational Excellence metrics that include reducing inventory value on hand (PDSOH), reducing material purchase price (PPV), reducing freight costs, and improving on time delivery to the Customer (OTD).Work with the Materials teams to identify and implement opportunities for improvementDevelop relationship with Global Supply Chain team to further improve our performanceAchieve Green Belt Certification in KEJ’s Continuous Improvement Program
