Our Yonge North Subway Extension Project is seeking to hire a Project Manager CN, Design & Construction, which reports to the Senior Project Manager. What will I be doing?
Fosters positive culture and works collaboratively with Metrolinx’s business units, operational divisions and various internal and external stakeholders and communicates effectively with Metrolinx PDT, Technical Advisors , and third parties.
To support the scope definition, development, and implementation phases of the project.
- Manages consultant’s tasks, work plans and performances with respect to the Reference Concept Design and technical documentation preparation such as PSOS
- Assist the Senior Project Manager in directing and leading the TA (Technical Advisor) developing Project Agreement Documents for the Progressive Design Build (PDB) Contract(s), through all stages and phases of the project and in engagement and interface with third party stakeholders such as municipalities and transit agencies.
- Manages flagging procedures and coordinates construction activities to CN and GO rail corridors; perform site visits as required to coordinate work onsite
- Prepares construction plans, agreements, and memorandum of understanding as required.
- Manages project progress, analyses current and future work activities to identify deficiencies and opportunities for efficiencies;
recommends and implements solutions
- Monitors project safety to mitigate risk, ensure compliance with policies and procedures, and initiate improvements, resolutions and / or preventative measures.
- Oversees consultant and contractor scope and quality of work, identifies existing and potential issues, and initiates corrective action to avoid serious project delays or budget impacts;
determines what requires escalation and initiates appropriate action
- Manages project scope and change orders including negotiating, processing and analyzing cost and / or schedule impacts
- Identifies issues, risks and problems; collaborates with Senior Project Manager Managers / Directors to ensure corrective action is implemented
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Experience working in a Collaborative environment to create a high-performing work culture is strongly desired.
- Demonstrated Experience in project construction management roles within heavy rail, heavy civil, and / or subways projects.
With knowledge of construction, engineering, and finances.
- Preferred experience with heavy rail design and construction within CN and GO rail corridors; working knowledge of CROR and flagging procedures.
- Organizational, interpersonal and oral / written / presentation communication skills to coordinate complex multi-disciplinary projects under pressure to meet schedule and budget commitments
- Completion of a degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent.
- Experience in Progressive Contract Delivery Model (Progressive Design-Build and Alliance), DBB, and P3 is an asset.
- Knowledge of construction management practices and principles including familiarity with claims management is an asset.
- Prior experience with municipalities and transit agencies is an asset
- Prior experience with any aspect of design, construction and commissioning of multi-disciplinary transit projects is an asset.
