Expert Fibre Planner Consultant (Conduit)

The client is interested in hiring a Consultant to provide the services of a conduit and fibre implementation expert to help the client with the implementation of a 5 year strategic plan to implement the topology of Fibre and Conduit within their territory.

Expert Fibre Planner Consultant (Conduit) Job Details

Produce weekly status reports, broken down into daily number of hours worked and by tasks, using the client’s time tracking system.

The reports must include reporting on work accomplished during the period and work planned for the next period. These will be printed, signed as being correct, and submitted to the client by the Consultant.

  • Communicate assignment status in a timely and clear fashion to the appropriate member of the Senior Management of the IT Department and other client management, staff and other contractors or consultants involved in related IT assignments, as appropriate to the specific assignment.
  • Provide weekly updates on deliverables and impact of proposed changes to timelines.
  • Provide formal documentation, in accordance with the client’s PMO methodologies and documentation standards.
  • Provide mentoring and knowledge transfer to client staff on system set up, configuration and support requirements.

The successful consultant candidate will deliver the following :

  • 5-year Conduit and Fibre strategy in conjunction with the client’s Engineering team
  • Develop Partnership agreements with ISP’s and other supporting vendors with infrastructure stakeholders
  • Create roadmap for suitable locations with Fibre demarcation
  • Support a Fibre leasing and valuation cost model for client infrastructure
  • Review and plan lifecycle strategy and documentation of maintenance and sustainment plan for client’s fibre infrastructure
  • Create guiding principles and support contract negotiations for support and maintenance of conduit and fibre infrastructure
  • Implement fibre infrastructure through project management and coordination

The Consultant’s tasks will include, but not limited to :

  • Liaison and be the point of contact for Engineering and other stakeholders for input
  • Create documentation for strategy and implementation approach
  • Submit feedback and strategy in regard to fibre growth, maintenance, and implementation in the client
  • Create documentation in support of the strategic initiatives and planning
  • Support SOW for vendors and contract work regarding implementation planning
  • Create 5 years strategic roadmap for implementation planning and cost modeling for fibre and conduit expansion

Expert Fibre Planner Consultant (Conduit) Mandatory Skills

Required Technical Skills & Qualifications

  • Registered Professional planner
  • Project Management Experience
  • A diploma or equivalent certification in network development
  • CCNA / CCNP or equivalent experience in the field
  • A proven track record in complex Networking and Conduit / Fibre development in a municipal landscape
  • OSP Insights Experience and Familiarity

Must haves

  • Proven track record in Fibre and Conduit implementation in complex environments spanning multiple locations with large geographic coverages
  • Familiarity with SCADA and SCADA networks
  • Network Mapping and Blueprints background with work examples if requested
  • Blueprint creation and implementation practices
  • Strategic documentation for cost, approach, and implementation abilities

Nice to Haves

  • Wireless implementation experience in public spaces
  • Certified network administrator
  • Familiarity with Cisco Networking equipment
  • Wireless Architectural Skillset around WAN and Software Defined networking
