The Ministry of Highways is seeking a highly motivated, positive self-starter to join the Asset Management team in the Operation Standards Branch.
As an Asset Management Data Analyst, you will play a crucial role in supporting the maintenance, development, and implementation of Asset Management systems.
In this position, you will be responsible to :
- Provide technical and analytical expertise relating to the support, maintenance, development, and implementation of the Ministry’s Asset Management systems.
- Identify, plan, develop, and implement technological solutions for collecting, monitoring, analyzing, and reporting information required for the Asset Management team.
- Participate in developing short and long-term plans for asset management systems and work processes and technologies.
- Coordinate system testing and user testing, report development, and lead the development and support of specific solutions.
- Support and promote a safe, positive workplace culture through various initiatives and activities.
- Use the Ministry’s asset management system software and complete database management and programming tasks.
- Convert current processes and Excel spreadsheets to a relational database.
- Perform Ad hoc Data mining and analysis.
- Liaise between IT technical consultants and asset management system users.
- Coordinate software user training and provide ongoing support.
- Create and maintain documentation of asset management systems and workflow processes.
- Manage the application change backlog, including prioritization, scheduling, and implementing system changes and rolling them out to users.
- Work closely with the GIS team to support the integration of asset management data with geospatial technology, including ArcGIS, GeoMedia, Google Maps, QGIS, etc.
To qualify for the Asset Management Data Analyst Position, you must :
- Possess a solid foundation in statistics, practical experience with statistical software (such as Excel, SAS, and MATLAB), and mastery of data analysis languages including SQL, Python, and R.
- Have worked with Database Management Systems, including SQL Servers, Oracle, MySQL and NoSQL, and have had previous experience with Database Management Tools, including SQL Server Management Studio or Oracle SQL Developer.
- Be capable of critically evaluating data to derive meaningful, actionable insights.
- Demonstrate superior communication and presentation capabilities and can simplify complex data insights for audiences without a technical background.
- Possess a diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), or a comparable discipline, with prior experience in data analysis, data and database management or a related field being advantageous.
- Possess an experienced class 5 driver's license.
As an Asset Management Data Analyst, you should have :
- An ability to work on multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Skills in report writing and presenting findings to large audiences.
- A good understanding of the highway's surface preservation and maintenance practices would be considered an asset.
- Experience with various programming languages, such as Java, C++, C#, PHP, and Pascal, would be considered an asset.
