Director, Mobile Assets
Job Summary
The Director, Fleet Operations is responsible to manage the fleet operational activities, supporting the various sectors within the Ocean Capital group of companies.
The position provides overall leadership and direction for Ocean Capital’s fleet, including equipment specification, relationship management for equipment manufacturers, managing equipment lifecycle with attention to the Total Cost of Ownership.
The Director of Fleet Operations is focused on balancing the need of the internal customer for high availability of our equipment versus the cost of maintaining the assets.
Travel to various provinces and locations is a requirement of the role.
Responsibilities
- Oversee management of fleet maintenance departments including effective training and development of the team
- Lead the strategic process to spec, order and deliver and divestitures within the Fleet, in alignment with the needs of the business
- Optimization of equipment lifecycle for fleet assets
- Ownership and implementation of fleet preventative maintenance plans
- Institute proper preventative and proactive maintenance programs to increase equipment availability.
- Create and maintain internal relationships with business leadership across the Ocean Capital group of companies
- Manage quarterly and annual key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Investigate downtime issues and warranty claims relating to equipment failures, making corrective action recommendations to operations as needed
- Create and maintain external relationships with key suppliers and vendors
- Additional duties as assigned
Technical / Business Requirements
- Post-secondary degree / diploma
- 10+ years’ operational experience within managing light fleet and heavy equipment
- 5+ years’ experience managing a team
- Experience in the field of fleet optimization
- Knowledge of fleet industry best practices
- Proficient in producing management presentations
