Role
To assist the Maintenance Team in providing the plant with a high level of maintenance expertise, that ensures departmental downtime, meets Company objectives efficiently and to carry out equipment and building repairs as required, while adhering to quality, safety and legislative guidelines.
Schedule - Day Shift 8am-4 : 30pm
Responsibilities
- Comply with the company safety, federal, state and local regulations, plus environmental requirements
- Performs all tasks as per recommended job methods, procedures, etc., particularly on the repair installation of production machines, bearings, seals and their alignment
- Maintenance of RTU filters, belts and general maintenance
- Carries out preventive maintenance tasks to Production & common areas
- Diagnose complex and common faults of mechanical equipment by inspecting and using appropriate tools of preventive maintenance
- Familiarity, knowledge and use of power and hand tools and equipment in a skillful, efficient manner, maintaining them in clean operating condition. Uses hand and power tools to build buggies, carts, airlines, castors and rails
- Replacement of solenoids, motors, pumps and gearboxes
- Inspect equipment to ensure all safeguarding is in place and functional, including safety sensors, limit switches and photo-eyes
- Electrical knowledge to replace lamps, ballasts and familiarity with thermostats and sensors
- Plans and organize all aspects of work and job assignments, in an efficient and productive way
- Maintains work areas in clean and safe conditions, removing all waste on completion of work, or earlier if necessary
- Reports all defects, errors in production, and machines which may affect the workplace to the Maintenance Supervisor / Operations Manager
- Performs and assists in other maintenance duties as required
- Work closely with contractors and oversees activities as required. Provides resource support as required
- Completes tasks at the request of the Maintenance Manager / Operations Manager
Requirements
Maintains prompt and courteous response to production team requests within the guidelines set forth by Sunrise Poultry, LethbridgeTrade Certification in one of the following : millwright, industrial mechanic or power engineerMust perform overtime, weekend work and on-call / support as requiredShift work as requiredGrade 12 educationHave 1 to 3 years related experience demonstrating mechanical aptitudeExperience in a Food Processing Plant is an assetExperience with live animals and proper care and handling assetBe success-driven and have a “can do” attitudeBe able to work independently, as well as being a strong team playerStrong verbal and written communication skillsHave a good safety record and work ethicFlexible and adaptable in ever-changing environmentsCMMS experienceAt Sunrise Farms we are proud to be an equal-opportunity employer.
