Selkirk College has an opening for an on-call ‘Infrastructure Development and Support, Tier III’. Reporting to the IT Manager, Technology Operations and utilizing a service excellence approach, the Infrastructure Development and Support personnel develops and supports physical and logical infrastructure including, but not limited to, virtualized infrastructure, servers, Directory Services, Group Policy objects, network routers, switches, firewalls and wireless infrastructure as well as the protocols, rules and governance for the same. This position consults with clients to identify and implement solutions to infrastructure processes, problems and plans for the evolution of the College’s information systems. The incumbent works collaboratively with Infrastructure Development and Support Senior, Tier II, and Tier I Technical analyst personnel in the development, planning and execution of projects.
NOTE : This position requires a stable home internet connection with a minimum 10 Mbps upload and 25 Mbps download for remote administration and support when or as needed.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Develops and supports Infrastructure services and network services by :
- Leading and mentoring teams through project planning and project management, working on small to large‐scale, cross functional information technology projects
- Designing, configuring, updating and troubleshooting network hardware, network logical systems and sub‐systems
- Responding to requests for service, providing appropriate resolutions and maintaining associated documentation
- Researching, testing, building and deploying solutions to address Network Systems problems and needs
- Creating and maintaining documentation related to the development, installation, configuration and maintenance of supported systems
Manages the physical and logical network systems by :
Developing and maintaining of Directory Services objects, organizational units, provisions computer and user accounts as neededOptimizing system performance, monitoring of resource usage, network security and troubleshooting issues as neededManaging system wide start‐up, shutdown, and login routinesDeveloping, implementing, and testing data and virtual environment backup and retention processesGenerates reports by :Developing and implementing active monitoring and reporting solutionsMaintaining and enhancing system “run books”, performing periodic checks against systems and auditing performanceValidating reports generated by external groups against the College`s own dataCertification in related technologies is considered an assetSkills, Knowledge, and Abilities

BSc Degree in Computer Science or related field combined with 3 years of directly related experience orA two‐year diploma in Computer Information Systems or other Computer Sciences diploma with certification in Active Directory and Windows Server OR a Novell Certified Administrator Enterprise ServicesA minimum of 5 years or more of directly related experienceThis is an on-call (0%) position, commencing January 19, 2026. The salary for this position is $47.59 per hour (Pay Grade 12 at $38.88 per hour, in accordance with the PPWC Collective Agreement, with an additional $8.71 per hour stipend).
