IT Technician - Freelancer - Brantford ON

We are seeking a skilled andreliable Freelance IT Technician to join our team. This is anoncall position where the technician will respond to various clientsites both remotely and in person.

The ideal candidate will possessa strong technical background specifically in networking andhardware support and have excellent communication andproblemsolving skills.

KeyResponsibilities :

• NetworkSupport :
• Rack stack patchtroubleshoot and decommission network devices including routersswitches firewalls and accesspoints.
• Provide console access todevices and collaborate with remote engineers via screen sharingand telephonic bridges.
• Install andrefresh network devices such as routers switches and access points(APs).
• Identify network devices andunderstand their roles andfunctions.
• Knowledge of rackelevations MDF / IDF closets and data centerenvironments.
• Cabling andInfrastructure :
• Handlepatch cabling power cord connections and closet cabledressing.
• Familiarity with copperand fiber cabling systems and network monitoringsystems.
• HardwareInstallation andSupport :
• Install andremove field replaceable units (FRUs) such as hard drives memoryline cards and transceivers.
• Providehardware support for network and servercomponents.
• Work with outofbandmanagement tools such as iLO and DRACsystems.
• End User Computing& DeviceSupport :
• Provide supportfor enduser computing devices peripherals andaccessories.
• Perform device imagingand hardware breakfix.
• Support theonboarding and offboarding ofusers.
• Provide firstline support forconference rooms and escalate issues to thirdparty vendors asnecessary.
• Offer VIP support tohighprofile clients whenrequired.
• General ITServices :
• Perform InstallsMoves Adds and Changes (IMAC) for ITequipment.
• Provide Smart Handssupport for local server storage and networkenvironments.
• Support deviceapplications software and printersetups.
• Maintain hardware assetmanagement in the storeroom.
• Act asthe site point of contact for visiting ITvendors.
• Provide manufacturingsupport on shop floors with knowledge of the manufacturingprocess.

Requirements

Skills&Qualifications :

• Strongunderstanding of network devices including routers switchesfirewalls and accesspoints.
• Proficient in networktroubleshooting and decommissioningtasks.
• Experience in rack elevationsenterprise campus MDF / IDF closets and datacenters.
• Knowledge of console accessprocedures and working on telephonic bridges with remoteengineers.
• Ability to workautonomously and follow verbal and written instructions from seniorengineers.
• Certifications : CompTIANetwork and / or CCNApreferred.

Knowledgeof :

• Network andserver hardware
• Copper and fibercabling systems
• Network monitoringtools and device / database backup & restoreprocesses
• Equipment racking andstacking
• Familiarity with networkequipment and software including Cisco HP / Dell / IBM Juniper Bluecoatand Checkpoint.
• Experience with VIPsupport device imaging hardware breakfix and printersupport.
• Strong problemsolvingskills with the ability to manage unexpected issuesefficiently.
• Reliable and punctualwith the ability to meet SLAdrivenschedules.
• Professional demeanorwith excellent communication and clientfacingskills.
