Job description

What if you could redefine what's possible?

What if you could redefine what's possible? With us, you can. You want Purpose. Growth. Opportunity. People who get it. We are the home of ambitious, passionate, and innovative world shapers. With an unmatched breadth and depth of engineering, advisory and science-based expertise, our global minds unite to power local solutions. We are pathfinders and impact makers. We are Visioneers. We are WSP.

The Opportunity

Build the Future with Us - This is your chance to support meaningful heritage projects across British Columbia that protect cultural resources and strengthen relationships with Indigenous communities.

The Junior Archaeologist will work closely with our province-wide Heritage group, contributing to the success of archaeological projects across the region. You will gain valuable and diverse field and analytical experience, with opportunities to support multidisciplinary project teams that will help drive your professional growth. The successful candidate will ideally be based in one of our Lower Mainland offices, supporting work throughout the province.

Your Impact

  • Carry out archaeological survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring in accordance with the Heritage Conservation Act (HCA), permit requirements, and guidance from senior field supervisors.
  • Contribute to respectful and collaborative engagement with Indigenous communities throughout project work.
  • Support field programs in a range of environments, including rugged terrain, semi-remote locations, and all-weather conditions.
  • Assist with artifact processing, documentation, reporting, and research tasks that strengthen the integrity and impact of project deliverables.
  • Apply WSP's "Safety First" approach by actively participating in health and safety programs and promoting safe field practices.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • You bring foundational knowledge in archaeology or anthropology through an undergraduate degree or near-completion of one.
  • Basic knowledge of British Columbia archaeology would be an asset
  • Ability to do strenuous field work, including hiking in uneven terrain, carrying heavy loads and manual excavating
  • You value meaningful collaboration with Indigenous communities and demonstrate cultural awareness, integrity, and professionalism.
  • You thrive in team-based field environments and can take direction effectively while growing your technical experience.
  • You hold a valid Class 5 driver's licence; first aid or safety certifications are an asset, with required training provided.
  • Why Choose WSP?

We exist to shape communities to advance humanity.

  • Proudly Canadian - we are a Top 100 Employer in Canada for 2026.
  • A global community of brilliant minds - your next idea, mentor, or opportunity is always within reach.
  • Limitless opportunities start here. Whether it's across the country or around the globe, we'll help you tailor your role to match your ambition - because your growth drives ours.
  • Flexible work, real balance - we recognize the importance of balance in our lives and encourage you to prioritize the balance in yours.

  • AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT : $60,100 - $79,600
  • MB & ON : $54,800 - $75,400
  • NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC : $54,200 - $72,000
  • Disclosure :

The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
