Senior Linear Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Engineer
Working in the CFA Linear Infrastructure Group, this position generally comprises project and staff management, conceptual planning, assessment, analysis, Class EA study and detailed design and contract document preparation, support during construction and business development / client liaison for water and wastewater infrastructure projects (distribution and transmission watermains, sanitary / storm local and trunk sewers, water and wastewater pumping and storage facilities, stormwater management and drainage works and infrastructure rehabilitation and / or upgrade).
Responsibilities
- Carry out and manage all aspects of design for water and wastewater infrastructure projects
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams
- Provide leadership in the assessment and development of detailed designs for projects involving water and wastewater infrastructure
- Understand and apply the current design guidelines, criteria and standards (OPS, OPSD, MECP, Region / Municipal, clients’ own, etc.)
- Develop designs through all design phases, conceptual to detailed designs
- Analysis, evaluate appropriate design solutions and design of water and wastewater infrastructure
- Perform design calculations and documentation for water and wastewater infrastructure projects
- Supervise, oversee and review calculations and designs performed by junior engineers, EITs and other technical staff
- Perform Independent Design Check calculations
- Develop and administer preparation of construction plans for water and wastewater infrastructure projects
- Coordinate with and direct CAD production activities for design production
- Prepare and review technical reports, tender documents including technical special provisions to accompany construction plans
- Develop quantity and expected construction cost estimates in support of plan, specification and estimate scopes of work
- Prepare project schedules and budgets, reports on project status including Earned Value
- Prepare task project documentation including PMP plan, issues log, risk log, utility matrices, etc.
- Develop engineering studies, reports and documentation
- Conduct quality control activities for independent review and checking of designs
- Liaise with relevant agency / regulatory approval agencies and adhere to processes pertaining to municipal engineering projects
- Liaise with other project stakeholders including the public through public consultation processes and attending public information meetings
- Interface with clients for project delivery, attend client meetings and presentations
- Coordination with sub-consultants
- Lead a project team of engineers including training, development, recruiting and ongoing guidance and mentorship of team
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
Ten years experience in leading Transmission Watermains and Trunk Sewer Linear ProjectsExperience in rehabilitation large diameter transmission mains and sewer trunks; using established trenchless technologies and productsExperience in micro tunneling and tunneling projectsExperience in sewer and water hydraulic modelingHydraulic transient analysis for large diameter transmission mainsExperience with local municipal systems would be considered an assetAbility to work well with minimal direct supervision and exercise independent judgement and being a “self‑starter”How to Apply
