The Inventory Control Technician is responsible for managing and overseeing the inventory in a company's stockroom and warehouse.

This role involves tracking inventory levels, ensuring accuracy in inventory records, organizing stock, and coordinating with other departments to ensure efficient operations.

The technician must maintain an organized and efficient stockroom, ensuring that all items are stored correctly and are easily accessible.

This role is essential for ensuring that the plant inventory is accurate, and that the stockroom operates efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain current inventory levels.
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile with the inventory management system.
  • Update storerooms on a continuous basis by re-shelving, rearranging and consolidating stock.
  • Update inventory records to reflect accurate stock levels.
  • Responsible for 5S activities to maintain stockroom to Standard.
  • Receive and inspect incoming maintenance and plant supplies for accuracy and quality.
  • Properly label and store items in the stockroom according to established guidelines.
  • Ensure detailed documentation, identification tagging and organizing into respective bin locations, and ensure all products are stored safely and securely.
  • Process all receiving reports, returned goods, purchase orders in a timely fashion to prevent disruption to plant and accounting operations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized stockroom.
  • Implement and follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Regularly inspect stockroom equipment and report any maintenance needs.
  • Maintain inventory listings of WIP.
  • Pick and pack items for delivery or distribution according to order specifications.
  • Prepare and process shipping and receiving documents.
  • Update order points for all MRO parts based on the usage history.
  • Issue purchase orders as per the stockroom.
  • Communicate with purchasing, production, and Maintenance departments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Report any inventory discrepancies or issues to the stockroom.
  • Enter and update inventory data in the inventory management system.
  • Generate and review inventory reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide inventory reports to management as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for improving inventory management processes.
  • Participate in training and development programs to stay updated on best practices.
  • Assist with month-end closing and year-end physical inventory processes.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as needed and / or requested by management.

Pay rate : $27.79 / hour

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or at least one year experience in the same position.
  • Experience using ERP system (SAP), MRP and ARIBA / AGORA.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical parts.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude is an added advantage.
  • Inventory Management Systems : Proficiency in using inventory management software and systems SAP.
  • Basic Accounting Principles : Understanding of basic accounting and bookkeeping practices related to inventory management.
  • Safety Regulations : Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a warehouse or stockroom environment.
  • Product Knowledge : Understanding of the products or materials being handled in the stockroom.
  • Forklift driving license is an asset.
  • Work in a World Class Manufacturing Environment WCM.

Work Environment

Works in a manufacturing plant environment with limited HVAC, concrete floors, and exposure to industrial noise, dust, chemicals and temperature changes.

Normal plant operation is 24 hours, 7 days a week and work hours may vary depending on business needs. May require long hours, and weekend and holiday work.
