North Nova Seafoods processes fresh caught seafood, year-round, at its facility in Pictou

County, NS. The plant specializes in Lobster, Crab and Herring.

North Nova is currently seeking an experienced Controller for a permanent full-time position

within our facility in Pictou County, Nova Scotia.

The successful candidate must be able to work independently as well work directly with other

managers and floor supervisors.

The successful candidate will be professional and very well organized, with the ability to

successfully lead by example while also identifying issues and correcting actions as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Managing daily financial accounting and reporting for several separate business

entities

• Process, prepare, and record bank reconciliations, journal entries, and deposits
• Process invoices and statements
• Manage weekly payroll
• HR duties and reporting required for line workers
• HST and Payroll remittances
• Manage supply costing & maintain vendor communication and relationships
• Prepare and maintain weekly / monthly financial reports
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements :

• Post-secondary education in accounting
• Minimum 5 years’ full cycle accounting experience
• Proven technical accounting skills and intermediate knowledge of MS Excel, Word,

and database management

• An ability to work in a diverse and fast paced environment
• Proactive, big picture approach
• High level interpersonal skills
• Flexible and adaptable
