The Childcare Managing Coordinator assumes responsibility for achievement of contractual outcomes and provides a safe welcoming and enriched environment for children whose parents attend classes at MOSAIC. The Managing Coordinator works with internal community agency and funding partners

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Meet the stated goals and contractual outcomes of the program and submit appropriate reports.
  • Ensure compliance with the Early Childhood Educators of British Columbia (ECEBC) code of Ethics MOSAIC childcare policies and procedures Community Care and Assisted Living Act (childcare licensing regulations) and MOSAIC Early Learning programs Policies and Procedures.
  • Take a leadership role in the implementation of appropriate systems procedures and standards and work to maintain them. Ensures the ECEtochild ratio is maintained as stipulated by childcare licensing
  • Provides direct supervision to ECEs and provide appropriate feedback.
  • Coordinate intake with the onsite Educator and inform them of program activities
  • Communicate the stated goals and outcomes to ECEs and promote the visionof service excellence and continuous improvement
  • Implement appropriate open ended educational activities for the childrenenrolled in MOSAICs Early Learning program
  • Implement programmonitoring activities as outlined in the BC Early Learning Framework as directed by the manager. Helps to identify and respond to emerging program issues and work closely with the manager in planning solutions.
  • Identify areas for program and curriculum development and work to develop and improve the program curriculum and resources.
  • In collaboration with ECEs develop a variety of visual and handson materials which engage teaching techniques that include modeling observing questioning demonstrating and reinforcing. Develop collect and / or arrange to borrow resource materials
  • Organize and regularly evaluate the childcare space and all equipment and materials for safety and for appropriately meeting the needs of children.
  • Recognize document and take appropriate action in the case of any suspected child abuse illness or accident. Keep the manager informed of all incidents including visits and reports of monitoring programs.

Community / Stakeholder Relations

  • Promote positive and consistent communications with parents and community support services with their parenting needs and questions.
  • Make resource information available to the parents
  • Report and discuss parentrelated issues with the manager
  • Support ECEs in the observation notes meeting with parents reviewing care plans and exit reports and other related tasks
  • With the childcare manager identify common needs for professional development within the program and assist the manager to plan organize and implement professional development sessions
  • As required coordinate the work of volunteers and students to enhance the learning experience for children
  • Administrative Tasks

  • Maintain records for registered children (registration form immunization and birth certificate) Educators required documentations and practicum students volunteers
  • Purchase program supplies and monitor expenditures to ensure they stay within the budget
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

    Knowledge :

    Programming and childcare issues; BC Childcare Services Policy and Standards manual; Canadian childcare standards development needs of children needs and interests of children from diverse communities who face barriers as immigrants / refugees and specific knowledge related to the function or the focus of the program project or service

    Education / Certifications : Completion of high school Early Childhood Education / Infant toddler / Special needs diploma or certificates. Updated BC license to practice Food Safe Certificate an asset Sign Language Certificate an asset

    Experience

    More than five years of experience in evaluating and developing curriculum materials providing activities and facilitating play-based activities for children and their parents / caregivers; work with an immigrant population and / or diverse cultural backgrounds and / or comparable education or other program or project specialties.

    Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check required

    COMPENSATION : $31.26 - $34.32 per hour

    HOURS : Full Time 35 hours

    The successful candidate must be able to commute to Vancouver Licensed Childcare at 2710 Commercial Drive Vancouver British Columbia V5N 5P4
