OPPORTUNITY
Based at the Detour Lake Mine site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Site Services Operator to join our Site Services & Infrastructure team reporting to the Site Services Supervisor.
Detour Lake is the second largest gold producing mine in Canada with the largest gold reserves and substantial growth potential .
The open pit mine is located in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometres northeast of Timmins and 185 kilometres by road northeast of Cochrane, within the northernmost Abitibi Greenstone Belt.
The mine is situated in the area of the historic Detour Lake open pit / underground mine operated by Placer Dome which produced 1.
8 million ounces of gold from 1983 to 1999. The Detour Lake operation has a mine life of approximately 22 years with an average gold production of 659,000 ounces per year.
Agnico Eagle Mines' Detour Lake Mine is situated on the traditional homelands of the Apitipi Anicinapek Nation, Moose Cree First Nation, and Taykwa Tagamou Nation.

The Site Services Operator will be responsible for the safe and effective operation of Dewatering Equipment such as small loaders and excavators as well as tools and gear associated with pumps and piping installations.
The Site Service Operator must work with others on a team to minimize the risks associated with site infrastructure and water management activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Your responsibilities will include :
- Optimize cost of operating and using site infrastructure and water management assets;
- Provide accurate and current records as designated by the Site Services Supervisor;
- Evaluate and report on project effectiveness for continual improvement;
- Help manage the collection of operational data as assigned;
- Operate in compliance with all applicable legal and engineering standards and specifications;
- Assist with preparation of short, medium and long-term plans as requested;
- Understand, assess and evaluate department SOP’s with respect to efficiency and quality as well as from a safety, health and environment perspective;
- Continuously examine the effectiveness and efficiency of existing SOP’s and recommend adjustments or changes as necessary;
- Coordinate work with resources to maintain an appropriate balance between workload and equipment availability;
- Recommend practical, profitable options (Infrastructure and Services) to Senior Management and implement approved options;
- Maximize performance and availability of critical infrastructure and water management equipment under your control;
- Safe and efficient achievement of assigned tasks, including but not limited to : Pipe fusing, placement and handling; Preparation of pipe corridors;
- Fitting and flanges, Victaulic components, valves, etc.; Installing and maintaining pumps; Construction of sumps and accesses;
Pigging of pipes (if and when implemented); Winterization of dewatering infrastructure; Dealing with frozen pipes, pumps and other components.
QUALIFICATIONS
Our ideal candidate has :
- Grade 12 diploma or proof of completed equivalency and / or a combination of education / training and experience;
- Minimum of one (1) year experience working in the operation;
- Training and experience in site dewatering (sumps, pumps and pipes);
- Knowledge of Ontario health, safety and environment acts as they relate to dewatering operations;
- Proven record of following safe practices and procedures;
- Ability to safely operate medium sized loaders, excavators and other assets associated with dewatering operations;
- Demonstrated commitment to safety in the workplace;
- Well organized with a sense of urgency;
- Ability to work in extreme outdoor environment.
