Payroll Specialist

We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to for a 3 months contract. This role operates within the transport industry and is based in North Vancouver, British Columbia. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be expected to manage payroll functions, handle accounting tasks, and understand complex collective agreements. You will also be tasked with maintaining accurate records and working through various analytical problems. This position offers a contract to permanent employment opportunity.

Responsibilities :

• Handle various payroll functions including processing, terminations, and adjustments
• Conduct thorough analysis to solve complex payroll problems
• Understand and interpret complex collective agreements
• Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure data integrity
• Utilize JD Edwards ERP system for various tasks
• Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance and accuracy
• Perform accounting tasks and reconcile accounts as needed
• Manage time card reports and determine eligibility for midmonth advances based on set criteria
• Work with unionized employees, understanding their unique payroll needs and requirements
• Utilize advanced Excel functions such as pivot tables and lookups for data analysis and reporting
• Proficiency in Accounting Functions is mandatory.
• Familiarity with Auditing procedures required.
• Must have knowledge of Benefit Functions.
• Understanding of ROA - ROE - ROI is REQUIRED.
• Experience with Canadian Payroll is a must.
• Ability to handle Payroll - Manual is required.
• Experience with Payroll - Over 500 Employees is crucial.
• Familiarity with handling Payroll - Union is important.
• Proficiency in JD Edwards software is an asset.
