Salary Range : $26.84 to $32.13 per hour Posted : Wednesday, December 10, 2025 Application Deadline : Sunday, January 11, 2026 at 11 : 59 pm The Opportunity The Parks and Forestry Branch is part of the City of Barrie’s Operations Department. The Branch is responsible for the management, maintenance, and ongoing care of over 3,100 acres of waterfront, parkland and open space including 127 parks and 145 kilometers of trails. Services include horticulture displays and maintenance, turf management, shoreline maintenance, maintenance of parks amenities such as playgrounds, play courts, picnic shelters, and spray pads, waste collection, landscape construction, City's outdoor rink program, greenhouse operations, trails maintenance, and winter snow removal operations. Under the general guidance and direction of the Parks Maintenance Foreperson, the Parks Maintenance Attendant is responsible for performing daily operational, maintenance, inspection, and repair activities for the City of Barrie's parks, trails, waterfront, and open spaces. Overall, this position plays an integral role in ensuring the City maintains a safe, clean, and suitable environment for its residents and visitors by preserving and enhancing the City of Barrie's parkland, natural open spaces, and trails. The Parks and Forestry Branch currently has a need to fill several seasonal vacancies for eight (8) months from April to November 2026. Please note that successful candidates may be assigned to one of three specialized areas, including Parks Maintenance, Trail Maintenance and / or Waterfront Operations.
