The Welder position shall have the primary responsibility of welding and repair of rotating industrial equipment, primarily high speed and decanter centrifuges in our Service Center. You have a passion for quality and excellent workmanship. You work well individually as well as within a team, you have good time management skills and respect for deadlines. You have a strong work ethic in your workmanship and maintain a high level of standards in your working environment.
The successful candidate can be based in Edmonton.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Full‑time role working within our Service Centre in Edmonton.
- Report to the Team Manager, working as part of a team, covering all aspects of the Welding trade including cutting, fitting, fabrication, welding, hard surfacing, and grinding. Experience in SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, plasma cutting, oxy‑acetylene use, and welding of nonferrous metals, specifically 316 and 2205 Duplex stainless steel.
- Read and understand weld procedure specifications.
- For repairs requiring test certification to specific Alfa Laval welding procedures, be trained and must pass third‑party qualification testing.
- Service or repair the components of High Speed Separators, Decanter Rotating assemblies to the standard expected of us as an OEM.
- Read engineered drawings and follow repair instructions accurately, using measuring tools and working within an ISO 9001 environment.
- Work safely within an HSE safety environment, utilizing PPE and following our HSE requirements.
- Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Flexibility is key as you will be expected to work on many different types of equipment as part of the Alfa Laval product line.
- Training for the successful candidate will be provided for our products and processes.
Education, Experience, Skills and Attributes
Journeyman Welder with experience in an industrial work environment, ideally on rotating equipment.Self‑starter, hardworking, enthusiastic to learn.Ability to work well independently and also within a team.Overtime and flexibility in work hours will be expected.Dynamic, goal‑oriented and results‑driven, with disciplined and organized working style.Ability to troubleshoot & solve technical problems and work independently.Safety mindset.Computer skills (Microsoft Office and web based applications).The right individual will find the position challenging and rewarding, with growth opportunities in a global company.Physical and Environmental Factors
