Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at Fort St.

John Hospital & Health Centre.

In accordance with the vision and values of the organization and in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, this LPN performs assessments, plans, implements and provides nursing care to patients in an ambulatory care setting.

Dispenses and administers oral, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications in accordance with pharmaceutical and organizational policies and procedures.

This position operates in accordance with the competency guidelines and full scope of practice within the Standards of Practice as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), and according to organizational policies, procedures, standards and unit specific protocols.

Under the direction of a physician this position also provides orthopedic care by assessing and evaluating patient condition, reviewing x-rays, applying casts and splints, and removing pins and sutures;

sets up traction equipment and performs related orthopedic duties.

Shift Rotation / Hours of work : Tuesday, Thursday, Days, 08 : 30 to 16 : 30

New Wage : As of April 1, 2024 the new wage is : $32.84 - $44.96 / hour

Fort St. John Hospital and Health Centre is a 46-bed hospital with 115 residential care beds in the adjoining Peace Villa Care Home.

They have two state of the art operating rooms, ambulatory clinics including cancer care and hemodialysis, emergency and ICU, a birthing centre with single maternity rooms for labour, delivery, and post-partum.

Fort St. John is located above the Peace River Valley, and has a diverse population of 21,000 (2021) and serves an area of approximately 69,000.

Qualfications

  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Completion of recognized training in Orthopedic Technology or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
