Based out of the Electrical Division Edmonton (EDE) location, the Material Handler will report to the Sr. Manufacturing Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Load, unload, move, handle, and organize all incoming and outgoing parts and shipments.
- Pick parts / products for shipments ensuring accuracy of identification and quantity.
- Fill kits and deliver to production as required.
- Ensure all shipment contents are comparable to records and invoices of the order and that all material is accounted for.
- Prepare goods for shipment, including staging, loading, and documentation.
- Ensure all received materials are organized and distributed to the correct personnel or placed in storage areas.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all shipping and receiving areas, storage rooms and inventory supply areas.
- Work with co-workers, supervisors, and planners to ensure all material is delivered on time.
- Promote a safety culture and attend all safety meetings.
- Ensure quality by following standard work instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality.
- Keep work area clean and well organized.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
Minimum education level of a High School Diploma is required.Minimum 0-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.Previous experience in Switchgear units is considered an asset.Ability to read a tape measure (including conversions from fraction to decimal and conversely from decimal to fraction and metric to imperial).Knowledge of machines and tools including their design, use, repair and maintenance.Basic computer knowledge considered an asset.Prior ability or interest in building or repairing mechanical components considered an asset.Safety training certificates are an asset for the position.Working Conditions
Safety sensitive position in a temperature controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities.Required to wear personal protective equipment at all times (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety harnesses as required) and respirators when required.Must be able to work from all types of ladders (step ladders, A-frame ladders, and all size extension ladders) and scaffolding.Working at heights usually no higher than 30 feet in the air using proper lift equipment.Physical Requirements
Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.Bending at the waist and knees, and extending arms and hands in a repetitive manner.Continuous standing, walking long distances with or without breaks; occasional sitting.Must be able to climb stairs frequently throughout the shift.Able to frequently look over shoulders, work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length.Using upper extremities to apply or exert a force continuously up to 50 lbs.Ability to use hand tools such as tin snips, hammer, and power tools (some vibrating) for long periods with frequent repetition.Who We Are
