Westshore Terminals Limited Partnership is owned by Westshore Terminals Investment Corporation. Operating since 1970 in Port of Vancouver, Westshore is the terminal of choice for Canadian coal mines and for United States mines in the Powder River Basin of Montana and Wyoming.
Westshore Terminals is capable of handling up to 33 million tonnes of coal annually and ships to over 20 countries worldwide, providing billions in dollars of export revenue for Canada and British Columbia.
The terminal is also undergoing a transition as it prepares to diversify by including potash in its export base. Preparation is underway with a target for 2026 to commence loading.
Connecting the mines to Westshore is a network of rail corridors, terminating at Westshore’s west coast operations. Each train represents more than 14 jobs and $3.
1 million in economic activity. Westshore is to be proud to be Port Metro Vancouver's only dedicated coal terminal and busiest single coal export terminal in all of North America.
Reporting to the Manager, Mechanical Maintenance, the Maintenance Duty Superintendent oversees the installation, removal, inspection and repair of mechanical equipment at Westshore Terminals.
The Maintenance Superintendent leads Foremen and Crew Members in service to the operations department to meet production and maintenance schedules and has full cost accountability as well as capital project responsibilities for their maintenance area.
As a qualified candidate, you possess at least 5 years’ experience managing a heavily unionized workforce on planned, emergency, preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
Ideally your background includes leadership, project management and maintenance planning within a plant, mill, or terminal operation where 24 / 7 uptime is essential.
In addition, you bring a successful track record of diagnosing and addressing mechanical issues associated with bulk material handling equipment such as rotary dumpers, conveyor systems, gear boxes, hydraulics, stacker reclaimers, shiploaders and related support equipment.
In each of your mandates you have achieved positive results in system optimization and continuous improvement. The salary range for this role will be from $165,000 to $185,000 plus benefits.
