Job Summary
Reporting to the President & CEO of Infinity Mtis Corp. (IMC), the Financial Controllerprovides financial leadership and strategic support to the organization. The role directs and manages all finance functions, including accounting operations, internal controls, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
The Financial Controller acts as a strategic partner to the President & CEO and an advisor to the Board of Directors, supporting long-term financial planning, growth initiatives, joint ventures, investments, and asset management. The role also oversees risk management, debt compliance, capital structure, and the continuous improvement of financial systems to support IMCs mission and sustainable growth.
The incumbent will conduct all activities in a manner that supports the mission, vision and values of IMC, as well as adherence to all established Policies and Procedures.
This permanent full-time salaried position is based on forty (40) hours weekly. Given the managerial capacity, additional hours may be required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain a documented system of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to mitigate risk and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.
- Manage the operations of the finance department to ensure departmental goals and objectives are achieved.
- Act as a strategic partner to the President & CEO in shaping IMCs financial vision, strategy, and long-term direction.
- Advise the Board of Directors by providing timely, accurate financial reporting, analysis, and strategic insights.
- Assist in developing and implementing organization wide financial strategies aligned with the organizations mission and long term goals.
- Manage the annual budget, forecasts, and multi-year financial plans.
- Participate in planning the objectives, methods, and resources for short and long term financial operations.
- Monitor financial operations to ensure compliance with approved budgets and strategic objectives.
- Ensure accounts payable are processed in a timely manner, receivables are collected promptly, and all reasonable vendor discounts are captured.
- Provide systems for management cost reports, financial metrics, and operating performance indicators.
- Prepare and issue timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and corporate annual reports.
- Establish company wide benchmarks and performance metrics to measure financial and operational performance.
- Calculate and analyze variances from budget and report significant issues.
- Provide financial analysis to support capital investments, pricing decisions, contract negotiations, and strategic initiatives.
- Identify, evaluate, and support strategic expansion, growth, joint venture, investment, and asset acquisition opportunities.
- Develop financial models and analyses related to joint venture partners, acquisitions, and investments.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with joint venture partners, community partners, and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with McMurray Mtis and the McMurray Mtis Cultural Center.
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system and oversee the chart of accounts.
- Ensure periodic bank reconciliations are completed accurately and on time.
- Monitor debt levels, ensure compliance with debt covenants, and actively manage the organizations capital structure and financing strategy.
- Oversee financial risk management activities, including fraud prevention and mitigation.
- Assists with the acquisition and disposition of company assets as required.
- Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements, including tax filings.
- Implement and optimize financial technologies and systems to improve efficiency, scalability, and reporting accuracy.
- Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes, controls, and reporting practices to support organizational growth; and
- Other relatable duties as required.
Qualifications
- University degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a senior level finance or accounting role, including leadership and people management responsibilities is required.
- An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience may be considered.
- Recognized Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required and must be in good standing.
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers Licence, along with a clean drivers abstract is required.
- Criminal Record Check is required.
- Extensive experience in corporate accounting, financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated experience supporting executive leadership and/or Boards of Directors with financial analysis and reporting.
- Proven experience in strategic financial planning, risk management, debt compliance, and capital structure management.
- Experience supporting joint ventures, partnerships, investments, or asset acquisitions is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professional integrity.
- Strong leadership, people management, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to perform effectively and professionally in a complex, high-pressure, and multi-stakeholder environment.

Qualified status with the Mtis Nation of Alberta or fluency in Dene Cree are preferred candidate traits.
