Job Description
To support us on our journey, Sinai Health is looking for a Mental Health Clinician to support our Medical Psychiatry Clinic and Clinic for HIV-Related Concerns within our Outpatient Program in the Department of Psychiatry at our Mount Sinai Hospital Campus.
Responsibilities :
- Coordinate and provide clinical care for clients that both facilitates integrated care and supports recovery for adults facing a broad range of mental health challenges together with acute and chronic medical illness
- Ability to triage, complete mental health assessments, formulate and develop treatment plans, provide resource navigation and psychosocial interventions with ongoing collaboration and communication with the inter-professional team and with the client’s social network and community circle of care
- Ability to provide both individual and group treatments in various modalities
- Assist with resource navigation and linkage with community mental health services to support transition and ongoing care
- Facilitate and maintain community engagement with relevant external partners and agencies
- Adapt approach to meet the demands and needs of constantly changing conditions, situations and people
- Promote and support a trauma-focused, equity-centred client care approach
- Ongoing clinical documentation
- Contribute to program development, provide education and support to learners of all disciplines
- Performs other duties consistent with the job classification, as required
Job Requirements
Successful completion of Master’s degree in a health-related discipline, including Social Work, Occupational Therapy or related clinical discipline, or Bachelors of NursingRegistration and current membership in good standing with a relevant regulatory collegeMinimum 3 years relevant work experience in a mental health setting with preference for experience in working with people living with HIV, the medical psychiatry patient population and an outpatient mental health settingFamiliarity with therapeutic interventions targeting mood, anxiety, trauma, substance use and motivation for change through both individual and group modalitiesKnowledge of psychiatric disorders, crisis intervention skills, support for addiction issues, interventions for severe and persistent mental illnessExcellent organizational, written and verbal communication, time management and interpersonal skills, along with ability to work effectively as a team member in a dynamic, inter-professional environmentKnowledge of the Ontario Mental Health Act, the Substitute Decisions Act, the Health Care Consent Act and PHIPA requirementsAbility to adapt to changing work environmentProactively identify opportunities for and make continuous process improvement to prevent harm and improve client outcomesDemonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendanceDemonstrated commitment to collaborative practiceAbility to work effectively, both independently and together with the team under high pressure conditionsStrong decision making, problem recognition, problem solving skills and conflict resolution skills
