Kitchen Supervisor – La Boîte Bento Asiatique
Position Overview :
La Boîte Bento Asiatique is a startup set to launch in late spring 2025, building a new team dedicated to delivering high-quality, fresh, and affordable Asian-inspired bento meals. We are seeking a Kitchen Supervisor to assist the Executive Chef in managing daily kitchen operations, including inventory control, scheduling, production, and dispatch. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to maintain high-quality standards while coordinating with kitchen staff in a fast-paced, startup environment.
The ideal candidate must have at least 2 years of supervisory experience in a fast-paced restaurant or fast food chain. Additionally, proficiency in French, English, and an Asian language (Filipino, Chinese, or Vietnamese) is required to facilitate communication with a diverse team. A background in cooking and kitchen operations is a must. The Kitchen Supervisor will also handle any additional duties assigned by the Executive Chef.
Work Conditions :
- On-site position (no remote work).
- Location : Central kitchen near Metro Station Boulevard Monk, Montreal.
- Full time, 40 hours a week
- Hourly wage : $22-24 per hour.
- Meals provided during shifts.
Key Duties & Responsibilities :
1. Kitchen Operations & Supervision
Assist the Executive Chef in managing day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow.Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to food safety and hygiene standards.Oversee the preparation, assembly, and quality control of bento boxes to maintain consistency.Ensure timely production and dispatch of meals, coordinating with delivery and front-of-house teams.Enforce kitchen cleanliness and organization according to health regulations.Adapt to a startup environment, helping to develop efficient processes and workflows.2. Inventory & Supply Management
Monitor and manage inventory levels of ingredients, packaging, and kitchen supplies.Assist in ordering, receiving, and verifying stock deliveries to prevent shortages.Implement cost control measures to minimize waste and optimize ingredient usage.3. Scheduling & Staff Coordination
Create and maintain the kitchen staff schedule, ensuring adequate coverage during peak hours.Train and support kitchen staff in their roles, ensuring adherence to company standards.Communicate effectively with the team in French, English, and an Asian language to ensure smooth operations.4. Quality Control & Food Safety Compliance
Ensure food safety regulations are strictly followed, including proper storage and handling of ingredients.Conduct quality checks on meals before dispatch to maintain brand consistency.Identify and address operational issues to improve workflow efficiency.5. Production & Dispatch Management
Oversee meal prep and packaging, ensuring orders are completed on time.Coordinate with delivery partners to maintain efficient dispatch and minimize delays.Implement best practices for maintaining food freshness and presentation during transit.6. Marketing & Menu Development (Advantageous Skills)
Support the Executive Chef in menu planning and recipe development to enhance product offerings.Collaborate with the marketing team to align kitchen operations with promotional campaigns.Assist in developing seasonal menu items or limited-edition bento boxes.7. Startup Growth & Adaptability
Be flexible and adaptable to the evolving needs of a growing kitchen operation.Provide feedback on workflow improvements and efficiency strategies.Participate in team meetings and training to refine operations and build a strong kitchen team.Take initiative in solving day-to-day operational challenges typical of a startup environment.Qualifications & Skills Required :
At least 2 years of experience as a supervisor in a fast-paced restaurant or fast food chain.Strong knowledge of inventory management, scheduling, and production planning.Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume food service environment.Excellent communication and team management skills.Fluent in French and English, plus proficiency in Filipino, Chinese, or Vietnamese.Familiarity with food safety and hygiene regulations.Culinary background is an asset.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle operational challenges efficiently.As La Boîte Bento Asiatique gears up for its grand launch in late spring 2025, this role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a new and dynamic team.
