Position : Technical Writer

Location : Toronto, ON remote (potential 1 day / month in office)

Job Type : 6-month contract to start

Hours : Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST

The Technical Writer will work directly with the Product Engineering and other Management teams to understand our client's products, market, and audience, and create a positive and engaging learning experience that will ultimately drive adoption of their products.

Deliverables include release notes, product documentation, integration and deployment guides, FAQs, product tutorials, API documentation, and more.

Responsibilities :

• Work with internal teams (e.g., Product and Engineering) to understand solutions, use cases, and documentation requirements for retailers
• Produce high-quality documentation that is tailored to our target audience
• Create diagrams and other visual aids
• Edit content created by teammates
• Work with the Product Marketing team to understand and collaborate on positioning, tone and messaging
• Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation

About you :

• 5 to 7 years’ experience working in technical writing in both external and internal, or software documentation
• Experience in making complex concepts and / or technical products easy to understand for a business / non-technical audience
• Ability to deliver high-quality documentation paying attention to detail
• Understanding of how to provide and maintain the external voice of a company
• Superb grammar and spelling
• Ability to multi-task and juggle competing priorities in a high-pressure, results-driven environment
• Knowledge of current technical writing methods, trends, and technologies
• Preferred University degree or College diploma in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field
• Experience with Markdown and documentation-as-code
• Experience with API documentation
• Experience working at a tech startup, in e-commerce or in the technology sector
• Tools : Google Docs, VisualStudio Code, GitHub, SnagIT, Docs as Code, LucidChart, Jira, Confluence
