We are currently seeking a Health and Safety Assistant - Co-op Student to do a work placement at our corporate head office in Oakville.
This role is responsible for coordinating various H&S specialty areas and providing support to the HR team.
The successful candidate will be enrolled in a 4, 8 or 12 month co-operative education program.
Responsibilities :
- Assisting with the coordination of all Health and Safety related initiatives (H&S Excellence program, Safety Bulletins)
- Acting as a point of contact for all health and safety compliance websites & pre-qualifications
- Assisting with conducting office inspections
- Assisting with the drafting of company policies
- Providing administrative support to HR team (i.e. updating training records, coordinating training initiatives)
- Maintaining inventory of PPE supplies for all offices
- Facilitating new employees health and safety orientation
Requirements :
- Enrolled in a University Degree in Occupational Health and Safety - Co-op (4 year preferred)
- Previous related co-op experience is an asset
- Strong administrative skills, specifically MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Relationship-building skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Professionalism, tact and diplomacy
