Placement on the faculty salary scale is based on education, professional certification and experience and will be in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

Work Arrangements
The Chemistry Department in the Faculty of Science and Technology at Douglas College is accepting applications for a regular probationary instructor, for the 2024 / 25 academic year.
A full time workload is expected and the specific course assigned will depend on a variety of factors.
Workload is assigned each year based on available sections.

The Role
The Chemistry Department at Douglas College is responsible for a range of university transferable courses at the first and second year level, along with elective courses for non-majors.
The successful candidate(s) will be able to teach in both classroom and laboratory environments, with a modern learner-centered approach to teaching.
Responsibilities
As an instructor in the Chemistry department, you will instruct students, facilitate learning and evaluate student progress in College Chemistry courses.
You will also be responsible for planning, organizing and managing learning activities and resources, providing academic advice to learners and maintaining quality learner-centered instruction.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
The successful candidate(s) must have completed an earned degree in a major area of Chemistry (minimum M.Sc. with Ph.D. preferred), must have teaching experience at the post-secondary level and must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
The ability to teach second year analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry, or spectroscopy courses would be an asset.
Strong verbal and written English language skills are also required.
