Description
The Infrastructure Architect will be responsible for stabilizing and modernizing a hybrid infrastructure that spans Windows Active Directory, Linux-based virtualized systems, Hyper-V, VMware, and Docker-based containerization. You’ll be supporting high performing teams through the architectural and implementation development and test environments, supporting user lifecycle management, and through collaboration across engineering and corporate IT teams to drive adoption and scalability.
This role blends software engineering , DevOps , network administration , and strategic planning . You’ll lead initiatives in network management and design, disaster recovery, backup and restore, documentation, and infrastructure procurement—all while enabling a stable, high-performing development environment that’s gaining traction across the organization. Your role will also contribute to the rollout of new technologies and services within engineering such as test automation frameworks, support the administration and maintenance of engineering software services such as our IBM DOORS environment, and contribute to the automation of collection and reporting on business intelligence data.
Key Responsibilities :
- Administer and optimize network and systems infrastructure across Windows and Linux environments
- Architect and manage virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, VMware, Docker)
- Lead infrastructure modernization, including legacy system retirement and platform migration
- Ensure high system uptime, resiliency, and disaster recovery readiness
- Manage centralized database servers and support horizontal scaling
- Facilitate onboarding / offboarding of users and systems
- Maintain and improve infrastructure documentation (CRUD)
- Execute the configuration and administration of engineering infrastructure in accordance with relevant security requirements, including and up to a NATO SECRET environment.
- Migrate business and operation data collection to database infrastructure, and contribute to ongoing efforts to automate metrics reporting (e.g., Power BI)
- Manage and track the suite of special hardware and software used for engineering testing (e.g., test servers), coordinating with the corporate IT team and facilities to fulfill engineering lab needs.
- Use JIRA for ticket management and workflow tracking
- Collaborate with engineering and corporate IT teams to extend infrastructure and support cross-team adoption
- Support licensing servers and specialized engineering tools (e.g., Orcad)
- Participate in budget planning and equipment procurement to support infrastructure growth
- Design and implement scalable dev / test environments for long-term roadmapping
Required Skills :
5+ years in infrastructure architecture, systems engineering, or DevOps rolesStrong experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Linux systemsProficiency in virtualization technologies (Hyper-V, VMware)Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized environmentsSolid understanding of networking fundamentals and troubleshootingExperience with disaster recovery, backup strategies, and system resiliencyFamiliarity with DevOps tools (JIRA, Nexus, CI / CD pipelines)Strong documentation and process ownership skillsAbility to work autonomously and collaboratively across teamsExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skillsDesired Skills
Experience with Linux operating systems; comfortable working on the command line.Experience with writing scripts using Python and Bash.Knowledge and understanding of networked systems and network protocols such as TCP / IP, OSI protocol stack, and experience capturing and examining raw network packets.Experience with MediaWiki or similar platform migrationsExposure to licensing server management and engineering toolchains (e.g., Orcad)Familiarity with Docker and container management systemsFamiliarity with budget planning and infrastructure procurementBackground in supporting multi-team development environmentsExperience with monitoring tools and performance optimizationComfort with reverse-engineering undocumented systems and environmentsAdditional Requirements
