Job description

FYidoctors is seeking an Optometric Assistant for our Mobile Eye Care Clinic. This position is a full-time role working 30-40 hours per week.

As an Optometric Assistant, you will be fully cross-trained to support both clinical operations and patient service, including eyewear sales and administrative tasks. You’ll be a key member of our mobile team, helping deliver exceptional care while also adapting to a flexible, ever-evolving work environment.

This unique clinic is aligned with the standard FYidoctors Patient Pathway, but with specific adaptations in process, procedures, and product offerings to meet the needs of our patients — all within the limited space of a mobile clinic environment.

This is the first of multiple mobile clinics. Our first year will be one of learning and growth — and we’re looking for someone ready to adapt and help shape the operational standards for this exciting new model of care.

The weekly schedule includes providing eye care services within the mobile clinic, cleaning and restocking the unit, and supporting nearby clinics as needed based on the travel schedule.

  • Developing strong relationships with our Mobile Clinic partners
  • Coordinating bus arrival, parking, setup & take down in collaboration with practice team members
  • Weekly sanitization and restocking items
  • Inventory management
  • Managing front desk operations including greeting patients, scheduling appointments, handling emails inquiries, and maintaining accurate records. Support administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and general office coordination.

What Do You Bring?

  • Minimum two years experience in a customer service focused retail environment
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers license with a clean driver abstract Must complete Air Brakes Certification
  • Prior experience driving a 40 ft vehicle is an asset
  • Successfully complete background and vulnerable sector check
  • Willing and able to travel within province of Alberta based on clinic schedule
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt and respond quickly to changing priorities via critical thought and problem solving
  • General knowledge including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

How You'll Benefit:

  • Competitive wages
  • A comprehensive benefits package that includes outstanding optical coverage
  • Rapid and continued growth, ensuring a constantly challenging and rewarding environment
  • A workplace culture that fosters a sense of collaboration
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities to help you develop your career
