Software Engineer (DevOps with Java)

Job Overview
As a key resource in the Digital Banking and Payment (DPS) department the Application Analyst performs a variety of moderately complex functions in software management activities and conducts significant troubleshooting initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Maintains, modifies, implements and supports a variety of applications on various platforms and provides a superior level of support for the users of the products
- Takes full responsibility for the applications by monitoring, coordinating and reporting on all events affecting the applications
- Analyzes and solves complex issues or, when required, manages the escalation of issues to the Section Manager
- Ensures all incidents are responded to and resolved in accordance with established standards and agreements and creates problem tickets based on recurring incidents
- Researches and analyzes problem tickets, performs changes as required, implements and follows up to ensure problems are resolved
- Designs, modifies, customizes, implements and troubleshoots existing software, performing complex programming functions, often under pressure
- Coordinates change requests requiring reconfiguration or development and liaises with technical teams to ensure completion within the timeline
- Ensures all production updates are completed as scheduled with minimal risk and impact and provides post production support
- Acts as a project resource for software management and coordinates with internal technical operations teams as required
- Prepares and improves implementation plans and technical support documents and arranges change or release schedules with an understanding of product and service impact to reduce incidents
- Assumes regular duties and troubleshooting responsibilities of other team members in their absence
- Recommends new or revised systems and processes to improve productivity and efficiency in the application support process
Technical Skills
Experience in operating and supporting web based applications is requiredExperience in DevOps and Java application servers such as Tomcat, JBoss and Jetty is requiredExperience in monitoring and reporting toolsExperience in using SQL including MS SQL and MySQL is requiredExperience with Linux and Unix operating systemsExperience in AWS and AzureExperience working with Jenkins, Splunk, BitBucket, GitLab and JiraExperience in scripting or development skills including shell, perl, php and javaKnowledge of IT management best practices including Problem, Incident, Release and Change Management and ITIL Foundation certification is a nice to haveExperience in mapping business requirements into technical requirementsExperience in networks and firewalls with strong ability to perform connectivity troubleshootingQualification
University degree in computer science or equivalent with 3+ years of relevant experience in a large scale IT environmentAbility to provide support to project teams, client requests and client support teams for questions or issues including software or application errors, business requirement clarification and complex issues spanning multiple interconnected areas such as software, infrastructure, systems, platforms and vendors. Also able to provide day to day support across a wide variety of productsExperience in IT application support, design, development and operational processes is required. Experience in banking and financial industry, especially payment and banking, is preferredNote : The salary range provided is indicative.
