Frontend Performance Engineer Overview

As a Frontend Performance Engineer , you will ensure fast, smooth experiences across web, iOS, and Android by defining performance budgets and monitoring key metrics. You’ll analyze real-time and synthetic data, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and collaborate with product and engineering teams to optimize page and app responsiveness. Your work will include improving caching, asset delivery, and implementing performance testing using tools like Lighthouse, WebPageTest, and platform profilers. Additionally, you’ll drive best practices, automation, and performance-focused CI / CD processes to elevate overall quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent real-world experience.
• 7+ years of engineering experience focused on web, mobile, or platform performance.
• Strong understanding of essential performance metrics (page load, responsiveness, app startup time, frame rate, stability).
• Experience using performance profiling and debugging tools for Web : Chrome DevTools, Lighthouse, WebPageTest; iOS : Xcode Instruments.
• Working knowledge of modern web technologies and native mobile app architectures.
• Experience with CDNs, caching strategies, and cloud environments (AWS preferred).
• Comfortable working with logs, monitoring tools, and observability platforms.
• Experience supporting high-traffic ecommerce or similarly large customer-facing systems.
• Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines and performance automation.
