We currently have opportunities for an IBT Software and Field Technician co-op, for talented and creative students to be part of our team and share our values and passion.

We are looking for motivated, multi-faceted technically inclined students who enjoy working on a wide variety of tasks, are quick to learn, and are keen to make a significant contribution to a successful and growing company.

The Integrated Building Technology (IBT) team helps clients design, deploy, integrate, maintain and operate all the technology needed to automate building systems, from HVAC to lighting to IT and OT networks.

We are product agnostic, which means we select solutions based on what’s best suited to the building’s unique requirements.

Our goal is to make building controls as simple, streamlined and future-ready as possible so clients can keep costs down and take advantage of emerging innovations like the Internet of Things (IoT) and data analytics while providing a seamless occupant and operator experience.

This is a 12- month co-op term from September 2024 to August 2025 at our Toronto office or on-site offices. This co-op term will be split into 6-month rotations between our software team and our field technician team.

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES :

Translate BAS Design documents into technical deliverables such as : controller databases and programsfloor plan and system graphics pagesconfigure system alarms and trends.

configure system alarm users and permissions.

  • Preparing documents packages and aid with document coordination
  • Assist with communication between the software and field teams
  • Act as a Technical resource and develop technical skills to deliver projects and / or customer service
  • Work closely with our installation subcontractors and coordinate work with them to ensure projects are completed on time and per code, standards and contract requirements.
  • Carrying out commissioning activities, such as : Commissioning and checking the operation of actuators and other system outputsPerforming point-to-point commissioning of sensors and other system inputs;

Checking the calibration of system sensors; andFilling out commissioning documentation.Assist with the configuration of system alarms and trends.

  • Assist with the development of user graphics and interfaces that schematically represent each system.
  • Contributing to corporate knowledge sharing systems and participate in the development of tools and template libraries.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Working towards a University degree or College diploma in a related field such as Mechanical Engineering, building science, electromechanical engineering, control systems engineering or applicable education
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Sketchup or other modeling software
  • Strong computer skills with hands-on working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel and Word
  • Strong oral and written communication skills especially in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Team player, energetic, resourceful, reliable and timely
  • Eager to work and learn in a fast-paced industry
  • Comfortable working on a construction job site, or office setting
  • Desirable :
  • Related work experience is an asset, including from other co-op placements, internships, or projects.
  • Experience in the construction industry a strong asset but not mandatory
  • Previous exposure to programming languages such as python, C++, Adobe, Visual Basics and PLC Programming
