As a Legal Counsel working in the Operational Support team at Pomerleau Construction, you will play a pivotal role in future success of the business in providing strategic legal counsel in matters of corporate and commercial law.

Supporting large-scale building and infrastructure projects ranging from $ million to upwards of $1 billion you will have the opportunity to provide strategic legal advisory and support on day-to-day activities and operations of the company (Pomerleau and its subsidiaries).

What You Will Do

  • Prepare, review, analyze, comment on and negotiate different types of contracts (including various types of construction contracts, subcontracting, services, etc. ;)
  • Advise project team members on various legal issues;
  • Maintaining and updating the bank of models and certain corporate documents of the company;
  • Review, analyze and comment on documentation in the context of public calls for tenders, including in particular for alternative mode projects;
  • Answer legal questions, support and support members of the company assigned to operations on the company's various projects;
  • Coordinate and collaborate with external legal advisors;

This role could be for you if you have

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in law and be a member of the Quebec Bar (member of a bar in another Canadian province will be considered an asset);
  • Around 5-8 years of experience in commercial construction law and corporate law;
  • Relevant experience in alternative construction projects including PPPs (will be considered an asset);
  • Working knowledge of the construction industry;
  • Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills;
  • Have strong legal argumentation skills, both written and verbal;
  • Fluency in French and English;
  • Openness to traveling occasionally to different regions of Canada where work-related representations will be required.
