About The School Of Trades & Skills
The School of Trades & Skills is dedicated to creating the next generation of skilled trades workers. Working closely with industry, the School provides learners with education in a variety of trades and apprenticeships using the newest equipment. The School is also home to the Olds College Brewery. Fields of study offered within the School of Trades & Skills include : Brewmaster and Brewery Operations, Hospitality and Tourism, Trades, Apprenticeships & Pre‑Employment, Transitional Employment Program, and Farrier Science.
The Opportunity : Contract Instructor, Agriculture & Heavy Equipment
The instructor in the Agriculture & Heavy Equipment Program on the Olds College campus is responsible for developing curriculum, instruction, and academic support to students pursuing careers in the agriculture and heavy equipment industry. The instructor will foster a positive learning environment, mentor students, and collaborate with industry professionals to enhance program effectiveness.
The School of Trades and Skills at Olds College invites applications for Instructor for TEC 2126 Hydraulic Shift Transmissions (135 hours) from January to March, 2026. In this course, students will study the theory, operation and service procedures of hydraulic / power shift transmissions, automatic transmissions, torque converters and hydraulic retarders used in off road equipment. The students will disassemble, inspect and reassemble a power shift or automatic transmission. The students will also study system schematic interpretation using technical manuals and testing and troubleshooting procedures. There is also the possibility of instruction of other courses past March.
