Role Description
Marmot Construction Ltd. is seeking a GPS Machine Control Specialist with strong CAD experience to support the development and implementation of machine control systems across our construction projects. This role is ideal for someone who excels in CAD and digital model creation and is also proficient in construction surveying , working closely with field teams to integrate geomatics into daily operations.
What you’ll do
- Create and manage machine control design files using Civil 3D , including surfaces, alignments, and grading models.
- Convert engineering drawings into accurate, constructible machine control models.
- Maintain and update surface and alignment models throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support GPS machine control operations using Topcon systems.
- Assist with construction surveying tasks as required, including layout, verification, and as-built data.
- Manage control data, coordinate systems, and model consistency between CAD, survey, and field platforms.
- Work closely with superintendents, surveyors, and equipment operators to support machine control workflows.
- Provide technical support and guidance to field staff on the use of machine control technology.
Qualifications
Strong proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D with a focus on surface, alignment, and grading model creation.Experience preparing machine control models for earthworks or heavy civil construction is considered an asset.Working knowledge of Topcon GPS / GNSS and survey equipment .Solid understanding of construction surveying and geomatics principles.Ability to communicate effectively with field teams and translate design intent into practical construction solutions.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.5+ Years of experience in machine control, CAD design, or construction surveying.Valid Class 5 drivers license.Meaningful impact on team safety and project success.Supportive, hands‑on leadership and a collaborative culture.Collaborative environment with strong integration between office and field.Competitive compensation commensurate with experience.We thank all applicants for their interest; only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
