We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and organized Inventory / Purchasing Clerk to join our dynamic team. Job Description The Inventory / Purchasing Clerk will oversee the purchase and inventory operations at Atlantic Beef Products.
Reports to Vice President of Operations or a designate thereof. Job Functions / Responsibilities :
Inventory Management : Monitor and maintain current inventory levels, ensuring that quantities are sufficient for meeting operational needs.
Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies. Track incoming and outgoing inventory through accurate documentation and record-keeping.
Purchasing : Purchasing of raw materials, supplies, and equipment needed for production. Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, service, support, availability, reliability, and selection.
Prepare purchase orders and send copies to suppliers and to departments originating requests.
Documentation and Reporting : Maintain records of goods ordered and received. Compile, review, and analyze inventory reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Prepare and submit inventory and purchasing reports to management. Issuing and maintaining FIXX software for maintenance ticketing and service orders.
Vendor Relations : Communicate with suppliers to resolve issues related to delivery times, product quality, and other purchasing-related matters.
Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors to secure advantageous terms.
Coordination : Work closely with the production, shipping, maintenance, sanitation, and quality control teams to ensure inventory levels are aligned with production schedules.
Coordinate with logistics and warehouse staff to manage stock movements and storage.
Health and Safety : Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and procedures. Conduct regular safety inspections for the company.
Report any health and safety concerns or incidents to management immediately. Promote a culture of safety and health awareness among team members.
Lead and manage health and safety committees on the site. Point of contact for first aid, government audits and inspections, safety training and certifications for the company.
Requirements & Qualifications : 3 5 years of inventory and purchasing experience; preferably in food service, grocery retail, or food processing industry is required.
1-2 years of health and safety experience is required. Experience in working with Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) regulations is an asset.
Certifications in inventory and purchasing and / or health and safety (First Aid) is an asset Proven initiative and leadership skills Good computer skills in using software’s such as Excel, Word, Inventory or Sales software’s.
Strong communication, time management, organization and team building skills. Repetitive work and willing to work in outdoor and shift work environments.
Able to lift up to 60 lbs. Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods. Frequent walking inside and around the plant is required.
Comfortable working in a cold storage environment. Our workplace is a meat processing facility that is an environment of multi-temperatures and varying levels of humidity.
We convert live cattle into Federally Inspected beef products. Please be aware that is a condition of employment to work and visit all areas of the plant including the slaughter processing area, as required. Powered by JazzHR
