With funding from the Edmonton Community Foundation, the individual will lead peer programming development, community outreach, and relationship‑building to identify service gaps and ensure representation in program design and delivery. The role contributes to CNIB’s national advocacy and accessibility work and helps ensure programming reflects the cultural and social realities of diverse communities, with a focus on disability justice and intersectionality.

  • Build and maintain trust‑based relationships with Indigenous, BIPOC, racialized, newcomer, and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, and other equity‑deserving groups in the Edmonton area.
  • Conduct outreach and authentic engagement to understand community demographics, identify service gaps, and inform inclusive and culturally relevant CNIB programming.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and decision‑makers, including municipal governments and community organizations, to advance disability justice and accessibility.
  • Work closely with CNIB’s Indigenous Strategy, Advocacy, Accessibility and Inclusion teams, and related committees to align programming and initiatives with organizational values and strategic goals.
  • Support internal communication, planning, and training initiatives that enhance collaboration across departments and contribute to national and regional advocacy efforts in line with CNIB’s strategic priorities.

  • Strong communication, relationship‑building, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in data collection and analysis is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in diverse team environments.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience and Education

  • Post secondary diploma / degree in a related field OR proven experience in related projects.
  • Lived experience as a member of an Indigenous or BIPOC community is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in community engagement, program facilitation, or social services—especially within Indigenous or equity‑deserving communities.
  • Knowledge of culturally safe practices and an understanding of the unique needs of individuals with sight loss.
  • CNIB is committed to accommodating applicants with disabilities and will work with applicants requesting accommodations at any stage of the hiring process.
