Background :
Ourprimary production workload runs on Cisco UCS with 100% VMwareattached to Infinidat storage through a brocade director withNetApp file services.
Our UCS environment is setup in UCS domainpods each with two Fis two racks 8 chassis max. We name them UCS6UCS7 UCS8 and UCS9.
The newest domain UCS9 is an xSeries with 6494Fis UCSX9508 Chassis and UCSX210CM6 blades. This environment is100% managed by Cisco Intersight which is their SaaS monitoring andconfiguration platform.
The older domains are connected toIntersight but still have UCSM management. The equipment for UCS9was purchase 2 years ago.
There was suppose to be an environment inYarmouth and one in Dallas. Things have change were we recentlymoved the Dallas equipment to Yarmouth and added it to the UCS9domain there.
So we only have UCS9 in Yarmouth where the otherdomains have a pod at each site. Since the purchase of thisequipment there have been delay after delay in getting itinstalled.
This was a result of firmware bugs a shift in Tylerpriorities and lack of training on this new type of UCSequipment.
CurrentProblem :
We have yet to haveimplemented a fully functional and complete UCS9 environment. Wetrying to add the new hosts from Dallas to Yarmouth we ran into afirmware issue where Cisco recommended that we upgrade firmware asthe particular issue was fixed in the new firmware.
That upgradewas done last weekend. At the same time we had several events occurin our environment that may not have been directly related to thatwork but it is affected those hosts.
This has lead us to wanting tohave someone come in and finally finish the build out of UCS9 andensure it was configured using best practices.
