MDRD Tech

RVH is the largest surgical program in the North Simcoe Muskoka Local Health Integration Network. (NSM LHIN) As a member of the Medical Device Reprocessing team the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT) will reprocesses all reusable medical devices / equipment, scopes and supplies. The MDRT adheres to specific guidelines and standards set by organizations such as CSA (Canadian Standards Association), PIDAC (Provincial Infections Diseases Advisory Committee), and MDRAO (Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Ontario)

POSITION SUMMARY

The MDRD / SR tech works in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and accuracy is essential. In this role you will be in a rotation through all shifts, and in areas including but not limited to Endoscopy / Cystoscopy, Surgery Treatment Clinic, and the Medical Device Reprocessing are required. The day-to-day activities / priorities change and the technician must be flexible and able to adapt with the needs of the OR / Clinics. The MDRT / SRT works within the various Medical Device Reprocessing areas to provide reprocessed medical devices and scopes for the operating room, surrounding area clinics, and inpatient units.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Grade 12 Education or equivalent. (mandatory)
  • Must have at least one of the following to be considered for this position : (mandatory) Recognized Medical Device Reprocessing College Course with placement. MDRAO Techniques Course. Valid CMDRT Certificate.
  • Must have at least one year of recent and relevant MDRD / Scope Reprocessing experience.
  • Basic understanding of Microbiology, the Quality Control process and the ability to consistently deliver high quality results. (essential)
  • Basic data entry and computer knowledge. (essential)
  • Strong knowledge of instrument tracking and material management software. (essential)
  • Basic knowledge of how to use MS Word, Excel an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Aseptic technique and a working knowledge of the Decontamination / Sterilization process. (essential)
  • Must be physically capable of lifting (11.3kg / 25lbs) regularly, pushing / pulling heavy carts, standing and walking for long periods of time. (essential)
  • Must be able to rotate through all shifts and positions. (essential)
  • Demonstrated ability seek and accept responsibility. (essential)
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality. (essential)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology. (essential)
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical accountability. (essential)
  • Good attendance and ability to adhere to tight deadlines. (essential)
