Job Description
Reporting to the Regional Director, the Outside Sales Representative will work closely with the management team and will be responsible for purchasing scrap metal (from dealerships / intercompany sources). The incumbent will also be responsible for developing and maintaining exceptional business relationships with both new and existing clients. This role requires a dynamic, self-driven individual capable of collaborating effectively with all company staff and departments, as well as with customers and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities :
- Purchase scrap metal to ensure tonnage targets are met or exceeded while optimizing profit margins;
- Visit dealerships and industrial suppliers, by phone or in person, to generate new and repeat business, provide pricing, deliver customer service, respond to inquiries, handle complaints, and build strong relationships;
- Prospect new customers by visiting individuals and small businesses (door-to-door);
- Develop reliable networks of contacts to obtain up-to-date information on buy / sell pricing and local and regional market trends;
- Negotiate new contracts with clients;
- Perform P&L analysis;
- Leverage knowledge of yard operations and processing to make informed pricing decisions;
- Coordinate with administrative staff and the commercial team to ensure accurate and timely documentation of all purchase transactions;
- Provide feedback and recommendations on scrap purchase pricing for AIM-operated sites;
- Complete special projects as assigned;
- Coach and support team members;
- 80% field-based, 20% office-based;
- Perform any other related duties as required.
Qualifications
College diploma in Business, Sales, or Marketing (or any equivalent education or experience);1+ year of experience (experience in the recycling industry, ferrous and non-ferrous metals is an asset);Valid Class 5 driver’s license;Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills;Excellent math, problem-solving, and negotiation skills;Some knowledge of metal alloy identification is helpful, but not required;Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;Willingness and ability to travel across the assigned territory;Familiarity with CRM systems is an asset;Bilingual (French / English) is considered an asset for the Quebec region;Demonstrated leadership abilities;Excellent communication skills;Team-oriented with strong collaboration skills;Strong ability to analyze results;Ability to set and manage priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment;Solid understanding of organizational management.Additional Information
