Job Summary
PetSmart’s Store Leader oversees the safety, pet parent experience, operational execution, financial outcomes, and all human resources functions within the store. The role champions exceptional pet parent service and efficient execution of daily business while upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy.
Essential Responsibilities
People Leadership : recruit, interview, hire, coach, and terminate; build an open‑door culture; share voice of associate feedback; manage store schedule; support associate development; delegate; cascade information; address complaints; recognize engagement; ensure on‑time associate reviews.Overall Store Experience : lead associate and pet parent experience; ensure pets are safe and healthy; respond to pet parent concerns; improve processes and services; partner with community adoption groups; maintain store standards; conduct monthly core and services walks; prioritize safety; maintain inventory; communicate business and financial objectives; review in‑store cameras; act on sick or injured pets; share responsibility with opening and closing procedures.Business Management : execute corporate strategy and profitability goals; analyze reporting; identify opportunities to grow the business; manage expenses such as labor and supplies; process payroll; run store related errands; support store needs; maintain financial objectives.Qualifications
4–6 years of retail leadership or experience in a customer‑focused environment.Full‑time availability; flexibility in schedule; able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.Proficiency in computer applications.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Supervisory Responsibility
Typically oversees the Experience Leader and Process Leader, up to six lead associates and ten to seventy non‑leader associates. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with PetSmart’s policies and procedures.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Stand, walk, climb a ladder, and use hands to handle, feel, hold, write, etc.; reach with hands and arms : stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear.Lift and / or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally team lift and / or move more than 100 pounds.Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet environment with pet hair; moderate noise level; exposure to live animals and handling common.Equal Opportunity
