Land Use Specialist - Burnaby
About the role
- Provides leadership and technical oversight in land use strategy, planning and policy.
- Prepares socio-economic related materials, including baseline reports, effects assessments and other similar types of deliverables.
- Writes technical reports, analyses and interprets data.
- Prepares written deliverables in accordance with provincial, territorial and / or federal regulatory requirements, best practices, and / or any preferences or protocols identified by respective Indigenous nations.
- Manages the coordination, organization, and delivery of socio-cultural research programs and related community engagement.
- Participates in the development of socio-economic mitigation and enhancement measures and management plans.
- Contributes to proposal writing.
Qualifications
About you
- Degree in social sciences, natural resource management, geography, or related field of study.
- A MCIP or RPP designation or eligible to apply.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in socio-economic effects assessments and / or land use assessments in an environmental consulting practice.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in land use planning with an environmental consulting firm and / or regulator
- Knowledge of socio-economic assessments, engagement, and master planning.
- Understanding of and demonstrated aptitude for analyzing complex legal and regulatory documents, including official plans, zoning bylaws, growth plans and other applicable policy documents.
- Solid understanding of provincial and federal environmental assessment legislation, regulations, and guidelines in a Canadian context.
- Demonstrated research, analysis, and technical writing skills, including gathering and interpretation of qualitative and quantitative data.
- Ability to support and lead business development activities through early client interaction, develop scopes of work and grow a client network
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Experience working with Indigenous Nations in western Canada and / or communities across Canada.
- Ability to travel as required.

Salary range : $75,000 - $100,000
Expected Salary : Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
