Define the technical requirements for auxiliary power systems and sub-systems based on internal requirements and customers, ensuring they are consistent, complete, and correct.
Design auxiliary power system architectures based on requirements and product portfolio.
Generate Technical Requirements Documents (TRDs) for auxiliary power suppliers.
Perform a technical evaluation of the proposals of auxiliary power suppliers.
Technically manage the auxiliary power supplier during all phases of the project (design, test, warranty).
Review auxiliary power supplier documentation in accordance with project processes and requirements.
Evaluate auxiliary power system level tests for verification and validation.
Additional Responsibilities
Estimate efforts to design and document electromechanical products.
Ensure that the cost of activities related to mechanical engineering respects the budget.
Plan and establish activities related to mechanical engineering.
Follow up on mechanical engineering as well as the monitoring of product costs.
Estimate the costs of mechanical products.
Analyze and assimilate technical specifications and standards.
Design and document electromechanical products : assembly drawings, diagrams, and supervise formatting.
Participate in design reviews of electromechanical products.
Check and approve the documentation of mechanical products (if technically competent to do so).
Provide support for obsolete products.
Define the necessary tests (routine and qualification) with the Engineer / Test Designer.
Validate the test equipment built with the Engineer / Test Designer and the Electrical Technician.
Offer support to our manufacturing sites and suppliers, remotely from Montreal or at the Plattsburgh, NY site.
Choose test facilities and enter requests.
Create requisitions for parts manufactured by suppliers or to obtain parts for manufacturing in-house.
Ensure all equipment required for testing has been calibrated.
Run the tests with or without the Engineer / Test Designer.
Write test reports.
Perform failure analyses, including report and client presentations.
Make technical presentations to clients.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent recognized by the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with relevant experience.
Experience with auxiliary power systems.
Verifiable experience in leading the technical field of customer delivery projects.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
