We’re looking for a Networking Engineer to join our team.
This position is onsite in Hamilton, ON.
Responsibilities
- Administer network equipment for phone connectivity, assist with hardware and software upgrades, and resolve incidents escalated by Networking I support or customers following documented guidelines.
- Be available for on‑call duty.
- Perform cabling and patching within closets and data centres.
- Conduct remote testing and triage to validate alerts, events, and incidents.
- Contact customer helpdesk or end users and guide advanced triage / troubleshooting to isolate network issues to hardware, cabling, or transport.
- Troubleshoot and resolve higher‑level network issues that are not localized to single sites.
- Serve as the technical point of contact for customers and the L1 team, escalating with vendors / customers and troubleshooting with their specialists to resolve critical, escalated, chronic, or aging issues.
- Perform triage and troubleshooting with field engineers during site visits and vendor meetings to identify and resolve advanced device hardware, configuration, and / or software / IOS / Nexus issues.
- Conduct and provide RCAs to customers for major incidents, critical escalations, and chronic / repetitive issues.
- Escalate issues for Level 3 support per documented guidelines.
- Support testing, implementation, and validation for change management.
- Provide analytical support for problem‑management activities performed by Level 3 support.
- Contribute to documentation and knowledge articles.
- Participate in technical panels for hiring Level 2 / 3 associates.
- Participate in technical aspects of service transitions.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
- Allocate time and tasks in the Time Reporting System.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
2+ years of experience.Cisco firewall experience is a plus.Some experience in project management.Incident ticketing systems (e.g., Remedy, Service‑Now) required.Experience with Cisco, CheckPoint, Cisco ACI, Cisco ISE, routers, switches, APs, wireless controllers, load balancers, site‑to‑site datacenter, and closet patching / cabling.Provide samples of each.Strong troubleshooting skills on routers and switches for both LAN / WAN topology and wireless.Seniority Level
