The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) is responsible for the safe, reliable, and economic planning and operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System. We provide open and non-discriminatory access to Alberta’s interconnected power grid and also facilitate Alberta’s competitive wholesale electricity market. The Reliability Requirements team has a focus on the future reliability of Alberta’s electric system in the areas of system strength, frequency stability, and flexibility. As the complexity of the system and associated ISO rules and Alberta reliability standards increases, the AESO requires expertise in these areas to ensure sound guidance to internal and external parties.
Reporting to the Manager, Reliability Requirements & Market Support, we are looking for a Senior Engineer to support reliability through the interpretation and application of ISO rules and Alberta reliability standards. In this position, you will provide guidance and perform engineering studies with respect to ancillary services and their integration into the restructured energy market. This full-time opportunity offers a competitive salary, and a variable pay program.
