This is a Casual position to pick up shifts when we are short staffed. There is no guarantee of hours or shifts per week.
We are looking for someone who is able to pick up shifts 10am-6pm any day of the week.

What you’ll be doing :
You will be a welcomed team member, working in a fast-paced environment where you will make a meaningful difference in residents’ lives. As a Maintenance Assistant, you will play an important role in maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for residents and staff. As an individual and part of a wider team, you will be a strong contributor to the culture of the home, where the focus is always on helping residents live fully, every day.
What makes you a great fit?
- Executing general repair and maintenance work including painting, plastering, basic plumbing (e.g. replacing faucets, unblocking toilets), woodworking (e.g. replacing moulding, installing doors, replacing doorframes) and electrical work (tasks that do not require an electrician’s license, e.g. changing light bulbs)
- Cleaning, scrubbing, striping and waxing floors in the hallways, stairways, common areas, etc., as instructed, in order to maintain the premises in good condition
- Emptying out garbage and recycling receptacles at regular intervals in order to prevent waste from accumulating, and ensures recycling materials are stored properly
- Maintaining building exterior, grounds and parking lots
- Removing snow on sidewalks and doors and applies salt to ensure resident, visitor and team member safety
- Mowing and watering grass, tending to flower gardens and applies fertilizer as needed, to ensure the orderly appearance of the grounds
- Completing the appropriate forms and documents; writing required reports based on available information in order to ensure the necessary follow-up
- Performing other duties as assigned
What you need to know :
Certification, training, and work experience, including competencies, in : building repairs, painting and finishes, floor care, safety procedures, property maintenance, plumbing, heating and air conditioning1-2 years’ experience in a similar positionProven customer service skills and excellent command of verbal and written English languageSound knowledge of the operation and maintenance of equipment used in the residenceAbility to work independently and / or as a member of a teamYou must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work / study permitAll applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check.Sienna Senior Living may utilize artificial Intelligence to screen or assess applicants for this positionSienna Senior Living is committed to employment equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.
