Large general contractor is seeking experienced Health, Safety, and Environmental Director in Toronto to focus on the construction of technical buildings such as laboratories, pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities & data centers.

Responsibilities :
- Work with the operations and preconstruction teams on prequalification’s and project agreements to provide guidance and direction on specific safety requirements
- Develop, mentor, and guide the safety and operations team on leading safety approaches
- Conduct worksite safety inspections / audits and oversee the investigation of all incidents
- Work with project and corporate teams to track all relevant KPI’s to ensure that our reporting is accurate and up to date
- Work with Area Manager and Operations teams on required quarterly reporting and other reporting as required
- Support, develop, and implement leading strategies and approaches that support a culture of care
- Mentor a team of site HSE Coordinators and Managers
- Monitor sites to ensure they are effectively completing and updating the documents as required under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and company Safety Management System
- Develop and analyze safety plans for potential and current projects
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support through continuous coaching, feedback, professional development, and recognition
- Continuously drive strong safety leadership and culture practices across the business area
- Lead the implementation of global HSE strategies that promote Best In Class safety program
- Develop and implement systems and standards, in environmental and safety performance by continuously increasing and level of awareness to support the goal of eliminating all incidents and injuries
- Along with the operations team, support and represent the organization with the client on health and safety related matters
- Work with and collaborate with other business area HSE Directors on staffing needs.
Education & Experience :
- Demonstrated ability to delegate and influence others
- Demonstrated effective leadership skills
- Ability to remain objective and adapt to changes in the workplace from both a client and operational perspective
- Strong communication skills to engage, motivate and lead others
- Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
- Business acumen to understand, interpret and implement leading and forwarding thinking KPIs related to an industrial safety approach
- Experience with Operational Performance, Lean, 5S and SIF
- Experience working within with an industrial safety approach to health and safety such as in pharmaceuticals and data centers in construction environments
- Must have excellent knowledge of federal, provincial, and local environmental and occupational health legislation and regulations as it relates to industrial safety
- Minimum 10 years of Health and Safety experience, preferably in an industrial safety, data center or similar field
- University degree or college diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
